That One Night
STUART: What have you done?
MAGGIE: Me? You.
STUART: Me?
MAGGIE: Who else?
STUART: I haven’t done anything.
MAGGIE: Well it wasn’t me.
STUART: Why would I do this?
MAGGIE: Why would I?
STUART: But … But …
Just another day. Just another long day in the lives of Maggie and Stuart. Only this day, things are going to be different. The couple come home to find their bedroom transformed and something hiding in the wardrobe. Unspoken truths and pent up emotions have festered for too long. The pair are at last forced to confront the event that has dictated their entire relationship.
[A BIT] ABOUT …
That One Night is a current work in progress.
The play was originally shortlisted for the Live Writers Group’s 2-4-1 competition in March. An extract was read and audiences were invited to leave feedback …
- “It kept me guessing! I want more – NOW! A lot of fun and very intriguing.”
- “Great dialogue and rhythm and loads of potential.”
After some development with Live Theatre’s Literary Manager Gez Casey, the play was performed in full as a rehearsed reading as part of the New Writing Studio Sessions, October 2009.
The cast was as follows:
MAGGIE: Libby Davison
STUART: Jim KitsonDirected by Gez Casey
** UPDATE ** Since its rehearsed reading performance in October, That One Night has undergone a substantial overhaul and significant re-write. I think (I hope!), it’s come out stronger … watch this space …
